Z.P. Primary School Education support and Tree Planting @ Mahagaon, Pen, Raigad, Maharashtra
15th August 2025 Mahagaon Village in Pen, Raigad is at a distance of a little over 100 Km from Mumbai.
The population is approx. 2,000 people. The community comprises largely of people with small land holdings, and marginal workers engaged in factories in & around Khopoli, Alibagh, Pen, and resorts/dhabas etc. Some youth are also working in the nearby JSW Plants or logistic hubs.
Sports – Support Volleyball. - This helps in bringing about ‘Gender Parity’ as boys and girls can play together.
- Builds the health of the children
- Creates future Champions and likely job opportunities through Sports Quota in Government jobs.
Financial Literacy: Opening of Post Office Accounts and regularly depositing small sums monthly.
- In return, kids have to plant a tree and look after it for 3 years.
- The children must also play regularly, and there will be a monthly inter-class tournament presided over by a representative of JAVAB.
- Learn Savings, Interest, and understand Fixed Deposits etc.
Environment: Kids plant and maintain the trees for 3 years. We also hope to revive 2 Waterbodies/ Large Ponds subject to funding.
Highlights of the launch Event: Flag Hoisting, followed by the launch announcement detailing T Shirts distribution and the need to plant trees and play sports. Children were also made aware of the cash prize that they would get for their participation. The launch of the Library and Financial Literacy by the opening of Post Office Accounts announcement was also made with Cash handover to JAVAB’s volunteers to oversee the activities.
To commemorate the occasion, the Children planted 25 Trees in and around the boundary of their school playground and committed to caring for the trees.
