Women’s Health Camp @ Chitrkutir Ambeghar, Pen, Maharashtra

In June, 2022 an Eye Camp was conducted at Chitrakutir, Ambeghar Village for the Villagers and nearby Adivasis. The camp was very well attended and highly appreciated by the Community with over 250 people receiving Specs and nearly 274 availing of the checks which included Men, Women and some youth/students.

Post the recent elections, a lady has been appointed as the Sarpanch of the Village. She along with a few Panchayat members approached JAVAB with a request to conduct a health camp for their women.

The village identified was Ambeghar in Pen, Raigad and at a distance of about 90 Km from Mumbai. Despite its proximity to a major city like Mumbai, the area is fairly backward. Adjacent to Chitrakutir in Ambeghar Village is an Adivasi Pada.

The community comprises of small farmers, daily wage earners/ marginal worker, Ganpati Idol Makers, Small shop keepers and Food/ Pan Beedi/ Tea Stalls and some who work in the establishments and Factories on the way to Khalapur toll point.

As the Check ups involved women and also internal examination for Pap Smear tests etc. there was a need for closed rooms and privacy.

JAVAB partnered with Apollo Hospitals, a local Pathology Lab and also arranged to distribute free medicines (vitamins and supplements) that were prescribed by the Doctors.

Following were the tests and scope of Apollo Hospitals intervention:

General Physical Examination of all Beneficiaries
Bone Density Test
Pap Smear for select beneficiaries
ECG
Blood Pressure
Random Blood Sugar
Recommendation for further Pathology check ups and
Recommendation for those to be given Vitamins and supplements

Following were Pathology Lab Test provided Free

CBC
Uric Acid
Cholestrol
Creatinine

Free Medicines given to those who were prescribed by the Apollo Hospital Doctor
Calcium
D3
Iron
Multivitamin

TOTAL NUMBER OF BENEFICIARES WHO AVAILED OF THE FREE HEALTH CHECK UP = 109 Beneficiaries
  • Number of Women attended the camp = 91
  • Number of Women underwent PAP-Smear test = 16 *

JAVAB will arrange to collect all the reports from the Pathology Lab as well as the Pap Smear reports from Apollo Hospital.

These will then be shared with the Sarpanch & the ASHA worker.

ASHA workers will explain the reports to the Beneficiaries and guide them to seek the necessary treatment from the Government Hospitals/ Primary Health Care Centres so that they may take the necessary treatment. This is important to ensure that health issues are addressed early before they develop into a larger problem.
